Hi. I'm new here. SO I decided to post, hehe.
Anyway, the reason I joined is basically the same reason everyone else did: the words of Jerry Spinelli in the form of Stargirl has touched me profoundly. I saw it amongst a shelf of books in my junior high book fair three years ago. Its cover intrigued me. Not knowing what great universal truths lay in my hands, guised as yet another children's book by none other than Mr. Spinelli himself, I read the blurb on the back. Immediately, I thought that this may be an interesting book...if maybe a little more eccentric and unique than what Spinelli usually writes. So I bought it, not knowing for the next few months after that normal day at the fair that I would be right.
For awhile, I forgot about the book. I kept it on my bookshelf next to my teen novels...and there it lay forgotten, its magic still yet undiscovered. Towards the end of eighth grade, I found it again. And so I decided to read it, unaware of the poignant power that was to come.
Needless to say...I was enthralled.
Stargirl Caraway represents the inner flower child in all of us...the constant in our lives that wills us to live, see, feel and breathe life in other ways. She's there to help us, to open our eyes and see others as they want us to see...to guide us through those days when you reach an ultimate high and then sink to another low in the blink of an eye.
Upon reading this unlikely powerful book, I fell in love with Stargirl. Pretty soon, I heard about Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures' consideration about turning the book into a movie, and I wanted my opinion to be heard. That is to say...I wanted to tell them my thoughts on the casting and soundtrack. I never got to mail my letter. However, I'm an aspiring actress, and my realisation and newly found determination to find an agent (plus my discovery of this community) has made me want to continue to spread the word about my opinion. Who knows? Maybe when I become a successful independent film actress, I'll have had made some connections who can allow me to produce (haha, yeah right)!
Anyway, my casting list has changed over the course of those three years, and I want to post my final list here, for you fellow lovers to critique and discuss as much as you like. Here:
Stargirl Caraway....Evan Rachel Wood
